Just a quick note to let you know that our Magento extension to display import duty & taxes is now live on Magento connect.

The Magento extension Display import duty provides international customers with an accurate estimate of any import duty & taxes due, without leaving the checkout process. Now the customer can make informed purchase decisions, with the confidence that they will not face any unexpected customs charges. Advantages for the merchant are a better customer experience and reduced return shipments and unpaid custom charges.

You can download the extension directly from Magento connect. We are working on our second Magento extension, which enables merchants to classify products, charge import duty & taxes and generate international shipping documents. We will submit this extension to Magento later this week.

We are excited to announce that we signed Christian Louboutin, designer of luxury shoes and bags, as customer.

Christian Louboutin will integrate the DutyCalculator API into their Magento ecommerce platform, to accurately calculate import duty & taxes in the checkout. Christian Louboutin customers will then be able to pay any import duty & taxes upfront, creating an optimal customer experience. Customers will be able to make confident purchase decisions, knowing that there are no additional costs and that their shoes will sail through customs clearance without any hiccups.

Target launch date is set for early 2012.

As eBay seller, you can add the free DutyCalculator eBay plugin to your eBay listings so your international customers can estimate any import duty & taxes due with one click.

Your international customer will be able to make informed purchase decisions with the eBay plugin and avoid any unpleasant surprises. For you as an eBay seller, there will be less queries, less negative feedbacks and less returned items.

The DutyCalculator eBay plugin collects automatically all relevant information from your listing to make an accurate estimate. DutyCalculator covers over 45 countries, and more are added every month.

The DutyCalculator eBay plugion is free. Just copy paste the HTML code from here into your eBay listing.

Just a quick note to let you know that now you can calculate import duty & taxes for many more countries. We have added as ‘import to’ countries:

• Australia
• Brazil
• Chile
• India
• Japan
• New Zealand
• People’s Republic of China
• Philippines
• Singapore
• South Africa
• Switzerland
• Turkey
• United Arab Emirates

The calculation results include duty, sales tax and any additional taxes due. Any minimum thresholds are included in the calculations. Premium and Pro account holders will receive the correct 10 digit HS code with the calculation results as well.

We will update the DutyCalculator API version 2.0 and the Checkout Widget in the next days. Customers with customized APIs will not be impacted by this update.

We are working on adding many more countries, to be launched in the new year. You can find the roll out schedule here.

Just a quick note to let you know that we released DutyCalculator API version 2.0 yesterday.

Key updates include:
- Supports Canada as import to country with Canada provinces and names for local sales taxes (HST, GST, PST) and additional taxes such as excise
- Supports USA as import to country, with new input parameters such as pairs, piece and additional taxes such as Internal Revenue Tax and Merchandize Processing Fees.

You can find the documentation here. API version 1.8 is still supported.

We are working on adding many more countries and you can keep track of our progress here.

eBay just launched the DutyCalculator API integration! Now buyers can see the estimated import duty & taxes on the Product View Item Page so they can make informed purchase decisions and avoid unpleasant surprises. Benefits for eBay merchants are fewer customer queries, fewer returned items, fewer unpaid import duty bills and fewer negative feedbacks.

Russia is the first market that eBay launched the feature for.
